This fortified town offers a wonderful view of the Lot valley, complete with a panoramic map to indicate the different places of interest. Built in 1269 by Alphonse de Poitiers, this military bastide was much coveted by the French and the English until it fell into decline in the 17th century. Today the town still follows its original layout surrounding the main square, which contains the original framework of a covered market and two remarkable ironwork wells.
